Across the NIF portfolio, there is a range of active projects using imaging to characterise lungs and lung function.

UWA NIF Node (CMCA)

  • Lung imaging clinical programme at Perth Children’s Hospital incl. imaging in patient registries

Monash NIF Node (MBI)

  • Hyperpolarised 129Xe for human lung imaging
  • Hyperpolarised He at the Royal Children’s Hospital

QLD NIF Node (CAI & HIRF)

  • Hyperpolarised He for human lung imaging
  • 19F MR available on 7T (not yet used on humans)

UWA NIF Node (CMCA)

  • Nebulised gadolinium inhalation in mouse for COVID treatments

LARIF NIF Node (PIRL, SAHMRI)

  • 6Cu-porphysome biodistribution in mouse with focus on lung and heart (tumours and atherosclerotic disease)
  • CT, fluoroscopy (cath lab) and Permetium (4D Medical) in animal models for respiratory disease

Monash NIF Node (MBI)

  • 19F MR lung imaging (small animal) with potential to transfer to clinical application
  • 1H lung imaging of nanoparticles in mouse (lung application)

QLD NIF Node (CAI & HIRF)

  • Hyperpolarised He for rat lung imagingĀ
