Dr Shawna Farquharson is a clinical-researcher with over 25 years of experience in MRI in the UK and Australia, working across 1.5T, 3T and 7T MRI systems. In her role as the Chief Research Radiographer and the National Imaging Facility (NIF) Fellow at The Florey Institute of Neuroscience and Mental Health, Dr Farquharson led a team of MRI Research Radiographers responsible for providing advanced MR imaging methods to better understand brain structure and function.
Dr Farquharson’s research focus is the translation of advanced MRI techniques, from research to the clinic. Dr Farquharson has held numerous leadership and governance roles within the International Society of Magnetic Resonance Radiographers & Technologists (ISMRT) and the International Society for Magnetic Resonance in Medicine (ISMRM), including serving as the President of the ISMRT (2019-2020). Through her research and engagement with her global network of collaborators from the ISMRT and ISMRM, Dr Farquharson has achieved high recognition for her work internationally and her contribution to the field of MRI.
