Yun Zhao

NIF Scientist | TB PET Network

Dr Yun Zhao is a researcher at the University of Sydney, specialising in total-body positron emission tomography (TB-PET) imaging, kinetic modelling, and artificial intelligence (AI) for medical imaging.

His research focuses on developing innovative computational methods to improve the accuracy, efficiency, and clinical utility of PET imaging, with particular interests in total-body PET, dynamic imaging, kinetic modelling, and quantitative parametric imaging.

Yun has expertise in applying machine learning, deep learning, and generative AI techniques to complex medical imaging problems. His recent work explores foundation models and efficient model adaptation strategies to accelerate PET kinetic analysis and enable robust quantitative imaging across different radiotracers, physiological processes, and clinical applications.

Through interdisciplinary research combining medical imaging physics, computational modelling, and AI, Yun aims to translate advanced imaging technologies into practical tools that support biomedical discovery, disease characterisation, and precision medicine.
