Prof Kris Thurecht is the Director of the Australian Institute for Bioengineering and Nanotechnology (AIBN) at The University of Queensland, where he leads multidisciplinary research spanning chemistry, materials science, biology, engineering and imaging science.
His research focuses on understanding how the structure and function of nanomaterials influence their interactions with biological systems, using advanced molecular imaging to track their behaviour and biological effects in real time across complex multicellular models and in vivo systems.
More recently, his work has expanded into the development and evaluation of targeted radiopharmaceuticals for both diagnostic imaging and therapy. Working with partners across academia and industry, he has also led the development of targeted alpha therapy research at UQ to advance research into this emerging class of highly potent radiotherapeutics.
