Xuqian (Michelle) Li

Human Connectomics Research Scientist

Dr Xuqian (Michelle) Li is the NIF Human Connectomics Scientist at The University of Queensland. She specialises in structural and functional connectomics, building reproducible multimodal MRI pipelines that run at scale on high-performance computing infrastructure.

Her research applies these methods across general and clinical populations, from brain-mental health associations in the UK Biobank to connectome change after psilocybin-assisted therapy for anorexia nervosa. She also contributes imaging pipeline design to the Australian Trauma Biobank.

Michelle’s expertise includes:

  •  Structural connectomes from multi-shell diffusion MRI
  •  Functional connectivity from resting-state and task-based fMRI
  •  Graph-theoretic and network-based statistical analysis
  •  BIDS data curation, containerised workflows, and HPC deployment

As a NIF Scientist, Michelle helps researchers across the network design, analyse and share connectome studies using open, reproducible workflows.
