Marketing and Communications Manager – National Imaging Facility

Are you a strategic storyteller who can translate complex science into compelling narratives that create impact?

National Imaging Facility (NIF), Australia’s advanced imaging network, is seeking an experienced Communication and Marketing Manager to lead the development and delivery of a bold, purposeful and nationally coordinated communication strategy.

Working closely with the NIF Chief Executive Officer, Chief Operating Officer and a network of partners across Australia, you will help communicate the value of advanced imaging to government, industry, researchers and the broader community. This is a unique opportunity to create change together by elevating the profile of a nationally significant research infrastructure, shaping advocacy efforts, and showcasing the people, discoveries and outcomes that improve health, strengthen industry and advance Australian research.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Leading the development and delivery of NIF’s communication and marketing strategy, aligned with NIF’s strategic priorities and national objectives.
  • Creating high quality content across digital, social, web, media and stakeholder communication channels that showcases NIF’s capabilities, impact and research outcomes.
  • Managing NIF’s brand, website, social media presence and communication materials to ensure a consistent, professional and engaging national profile.
  • Building strong relationships with partner organisations, researchers, government stakeholders and industry representatives to support coordinated communication and advocacy initiatives.
  • Leading media and event communication activities that increase visibility, strengthen stakeholder engagement and promote the value of Australia’s national imaging capability.
  • Monitoring communication performance, managing external suppliers and contractors, and driving continuous improvement through data-informed decision making.

About You

You are a strategic communications professional who can translate complex scientific concepts into compelling stories that engage diverse audiences. With experience operating in research, healthcare, science or innovation environments, you bring a collaborative approach, exceptional communication skills and the ability to build meaningful relationships across a broad stakeholder landscape.

  • University qualification in scientific communication, marketing and communication, journalism, corporate communications, public relations, or a related discipline.
  • Demonstrated experience developing and delivering integrated communication and marketing strategies in scientific, research, medical or innovation focused environments.
  • Outstanding writing, editing and content creation skills, with the ability to produce engaging digital and traditional communications for diverse audiences.
  • Proven experience managing websites, social media channels, newsletters and other digital communications using CMS and content production tools.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement, advisory and influencing capabilities, with experience building productive relationships across government, industry, research and community sectors.
  • Excellent organisational skills, including the ability to manage competing priorities, deliver projects on time and within budget, and maintain high standards of brand and communication practice.
