Coen Arrow holds a BEng (Mechatronic), BSc (Physics, and Mathematics and Statistics), and a MSc (Medical Physics) all from the University of Western Australia (UWA), where he also undertook doctoral research with a focus on non-invasive cardiac imaging. His multidisciplinary background equips him with a unique skill set at the intersection of technology and healthcare.
Coen’s research interests centre on the practical application of cutting-edge technologies and facilitating their translation into clinical practice. He advocates for interpretable AI in medical imaging — built with the transparency and safeguards needed for clinicians to trust and act on its outputs. He is also passionate about improving data accessibility and standardisation in medical imaging research and has a keen interest in neuromorphic computing as a means of reducing the computational costs of deploying AI at scale. In his role as Medical Imaging Informatician at the National Imaging Facility, Coen aims to help position Australia as a leader in medical image processing and research infrastructure.
