The University of New South Wales (UNSW) Node provides access to advanced imaging technologies, ranging from preclinical to human modalities across three sites, significantly enhancing translational studies by bridging the gap between laboratory findings and clinical applications, and accelerating the development of effective therapies.
The Biological Resource Imaging Laboratory (BRIL) offers a wide array of preclinical imaging equipment, including a 9.4T horizontal bore MRI, Micro PET/CT, ultrasound, optical imaging, and magnetic particle imaging. This extensive range of equipment, located within a specific pathogen-free PC2 animal facility, allows researchers to conduct comprehensive preclinical studies, facilitating the translation of laboratory findings into clinical applications.
The UNSW Radiochemistry laboratory specialises in the development, manufacturing, and application of radiopharmaceuticals for and diagnostic and therapeutic purposes. The laboratory features advanced radiochemistry and imaging facilities that support the design and testing of novel and established radiopharmaceuticals, for a wide range of applications.
Neuroscience Research Australia (NeuRA) is a leader in MRI research, offering state-of-the-art spectroscopy and neuroimaging. NeuRA enables researchers to measure brain structure, function, connectivity, and chemistry using specialised 3T human MRI imaging capabilities at the cutting-edge of technology.
Research Imaging New South Wales (RINSW) serves as the Human Imaging Research Facility for UNSW. Located within the Prince of Wales Hospital it boasts two 3T MRI systems and positions RINSW to provide advanced support for basic imaging research, research studies and clinical trials involving all ages with access to comprehensive medical assistance. Researchers have access to expert knowledge and imaging capabilities for advanced structural, functional and quantitative imaging as well as analysis services for neuro, body, cardiovascular and musculoskeletal applications.
