Instax prints world’s first reconstructed memories with cutting-edge [Mind]ography experiment

The Fujifilm instax [Mind]ography project, supported by NIF UNSW Research Imaging NSW (RINSW), utilised cutting-edge technology to reconstruct memories from the mind. Led by Dr. Paul Scotti, the project combined Functional MRI (fMRI) brain scans and machine learning to recognise unique brain patterns. The subject’s brain was scanned while she viewed and imagined thousands of images, training an AI algorithm to interpret her brain activity. This technology was then used to visually reconstruct her personal memories, capturing not just what she saw, but also her history, emotions, and experiences. These reconstructed memories were showcased in an exhibition, highlighting the profound potential of merging science and art.
