Radiochemists make every PET scan and radiotherapy treatment possible, yet that work can often get skipped over in favour of patient results, leaving 90% of the effort invisible. In this short session, Emma Donnelly will walk through simple,
practical approaches. You’ll also look at why presenting your work clearly matters beyond any one talk, for your own professional brand and for the reputation of radiochemistry as a profession. You’ll leave with a framework that will help you with your very next presentation, whatever the room.
Over the past 25 years, Emma has coached thousands of scientists, researchers and specialist professionals to communicate complex, high-stakes work with clarity, confidence and impact. As National Trainer for FameLab Australia and founder of the Eureka Prize-winning citizen science program Fireballs in the Sky, she has worked with organisations including CSIRO, ARC Centres of Excellence, Cooperative Research Centres (CRCs) and universities across Australia and
internationally.
Much of Emma’s work focuses on a challenge familiar to radiochemists: how do you communicate highly technical, rigorous work without losing the science, while still helping people understand why it matters. Whether speaking to fellow experts, clinicians, decision-makers or broader audiences, technical specialists are often asked to simplify their work while the complexity, skill and effort behind it remain largely invisible. Emma specialises in helping experts strike that balance – showcasing the science, highlighting the expertise and connecting it to the outcomes that matter most.
