Your experiences, heard: results of our 2025 NIF User Experience Survey

Vital to shaping NIF’s future and ensuring it remains a foundation of Australian research excellence, we are grateful for so many people taking part in the 2025 NIF User Experience Survey.

Most notably, 99% of our survey respondents would “recommend NIF to colleagues”, confirming the strong trust and advocacy that users feel when working with us.

“The NIF services for sure [are] essential for my research… I really appreciate it.”

Expanded reach, strong satisfaction, and work aligned with strategic priorities

We were pleased to find other encouraging trends that align with NIF’s strategic goals:

  • More people took part in the survey (3.9% increase), reflecting our growing engagement and awareness of NIF.
  • In line with our work on broader outreach and diversification, we saw a slight decrease in recurring users. This reflects NIF’s aim to democratise access to cutting-edge infrastructure.
  • Users’ satisfaction with our support rose from 92% to 93%, affirming NIF’s efforts toward responsive, high-quality assistance.

“Being part of the NIF community ensures extended support for collaboration beyond our location.”

Most comments reflect the continued impact of NIF’s dedicated personnel and collaborative culture, but we are carefully considering the handful of responses that underscore the need for enhanced investment, such as: “Staff are terrific but overstretched” and “Training and research involvement are delayed due to limited capacity.”

We thank our valued users for these collective insights. They reinforce NIF’s strategic aims to build a nationally connected community of world-class imaging experts and users, while maintaining Australia’s leadership in cutting-edge imaging infrastructure.
